Difference Between Pressure Reducing Valve, Pressure Regulating Valve, Pressure Relief Valve and Safety Valve

The pressure reducing valve, safety valve, pressure regulating valve, pressure relief valve are all belong to pressure valves, mainly have the functional differences.

1. Pressure reducing valve is a device that can reduce the medium from high pressure to low pressure. Such valve's character is keeping the outlet pressure and temperature within a certain range when the inlet pressure is constantly changing.

2. Safety valve is used to prevent boilers, pressure vessels and other equipment or pipeline from being damaged due to over-pressure. When the pressure is higher than the normal working pressure, the safety valve will be opened automatically to reduce the pressure down. When the pressure is lower than the normal working pressure, the safety valve will be closed automatically to stop the flow and keep the sealing.

3. Pressure relief valve is mainly used on the situation of over-high pressure, when the pressure is higher than set rating, the valve inner piece is pushed open to release the pressure in time, and will return to the original position after the pressure is reduced. It's not much different from safety valve, pressure relief valve is mostly used for liquid, and safety valve is mostly used or gas and steam.

4. Pressure regulating valve is used for keeping one area's medium on the certain pressure range, it's difference between pressure reducing valve is:

Pressure reducing valve can reduce the outlet pressure to certain value no matter how does the inlet pressure change;

Pressure regulating valve can keep the constant upstream pressure no matter how does the downstream pressure and requirement change.
