Forged Steel Gate Valves

Forged steel gate valve is a kind of gate valve whose parts are made of forging material. The gate of the forged steel gate valve moves along the vertical direction of the center line of the passage. It is mainly used for shut-off functions in the pipeline. Forged steel gate valve is a widely used valve. It is generally used for the shut-off device with size≤2"(DN50).

Actually, the biggest difference between forged steel valves and other valves is the material. The forged steel valve is usually used in the condition of high temperature and high pressure. Based on different materials, forged steel gate valves can be applied to water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxidative media, urea and other media.

MstnLand Forged Steel Gate, Globe, and Check Valves are tested and ideal for General Industrial, Oil and Gas, Power, and Commercial Applications.

Types of Forged Steel Gate Valves

According to different materials, forged steel gate valves can be classified as: carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, alloy and other special materials. According to different nominal pressure classes, forged steel gate valves can be classified as: Class150, Class 300, Class 400, Class 600, Class 800, Class 900, Class 1500 and Class 2500. MstnLand forged steel gate valves are mostly reduced bore design, compared with the same size cast steel gate valve, the amount of flow is slightly smaller, but the pressure and temperature range are higher than the cast steel valve. Its sealing performance is much better than the cast steel gate valve. It has a longer service life and the flow direction of the medium is not restricted.

Difference between Forged Steel Gate Valves and Cast Steel Gate Valves

The cast steel valve is one kind of cast alloy. Cast steel can be divided into cast carbon steel, cast low alloy steel and cast special steel. Cast steel is a kind of steel casting produced by the casting method. Cast steel is mainly used to manufacture some parts with complex shapes, which are difficult to forge or machine. It requires high strength and plasticity.

Forged steel refers to all kinds of forging materials and forgings produced by the forging method. Forged steel is higher in quality than cast steel. It can withstand a large impact. Its plasticity, toughness and other aspects of mechanical properties are higher than that of cast steel. Therefore, some important machine parts should use forged steel.

The quality of forged steel valves is better than that of cast steel gate valves. It can withstand a large impact. The plasticity, toughness and other aspects of mechanical properties are also higher than that of cast steel. However, the nominal diameter is relatively small, which is generally below DN50. The pressure grade of cast steel valves is relatively low. The common nominal pressures are PN16, PN25, PN40 and 150lb-900lb. The pressure grades of forged steel valves are PN100, PN160, PN320, 1500lb-3500lb, etc. Cast steel is mainly used to manufacture some parts with complex shapes, which are difficult to forge or machine high strength and plastic components.

Casting is liquid forming and forging is a plastic deformation process. The forging forming workpiece can improve the organization's structure. The mechanical performance is good.
