The valve that moves along the vertical direction of the center line of flow channel of the valve body and achieves the purpose of opening and closing is called a gate valve, which is mainly used for cutting off and is widely used.


Most pipeline control uses gate valves as the control equipment. Among them, the water supply and drainage mainly use elastic seat-sealed gate valves (blue). Chemical plants and other places with high and special requirements on temperature and medium generally adopt hard-sealed gate valves: cast steel gate valves, stainless steel gate valves, etc.


1. Structural performance of gate valve


The gate valve including rising and non rising gate valve is used for achieving the full-open or full-close cut-off action on the pipeline, and is generally not used for the flow adjustment (if it is used to adjust the flow, the sealing surface of the gate and the valve seat is easy to be eroded and damaged and the noise is large). The shell adopts different materials, which can be applied to media of different temperatures, pressures and properties. The scope of application is wide, but gate valves are generally not suitable for conveying thick media such as mud.


1) Advantages:

 

The fluid resistance is small, and the pressure loss is small.

  

The torque required for opening and closing the valve is small


The medium in the valve can flow in both directions.


Simple structure, and relatively good manufacturing process


It has a better sealing performance than globe valve


2) Disadvantages:


General gate valve has two sealing surfaces, which is more complicated to manufacture than globe valve


There is relative friction between the sealing surfaces, and the abrasion is relatively large. After the sealing surface is worn, the maintenance is inconvenient


The valve cavity has a large structure size, resulting in a long structure length and a large external size


Opening and closing time of valve is long


A closed valve cavity can be formed, so if necessary, it should be equipped with a pressure relief structure to prevent abnormal pressure rise in the middle cavity


2. Structural form and classification of the gate valve


Structural form and classification of the gate: Wedge gate refers to a wedge shaped plate whose sealing surfaces on both sides are at a certain angle (such as 5 degrees, 4 degrees, 2 degrees and 52 minutes) and two valve seats with the same angle to form two sealing pairs.
