Characteristics and Applications of Pneumatic Ball Valves

Pneumatic ball valve consists of a ball valve and a pneumatic actuator, which can be either a double-acting or a single-acting actuator. The ball valve can be controlled through an electromagnetic valve to achieve switch actions. Pneumatic ball valves can achieve intelligent control, quickly open or close pipelines, and effectively control and manage pipeline networks.

Ball valves are mainly used in pipelines to cut off, distribute, and change the flow direction of the medium. It only needs a 90-degree rotation and a small torque to close tightly. Ball valves are most suitable for use as on-off and shut-off valves, but recent developments have designed ball valves for throttling and flow control, such as V-ball valves.

Application of pneumatic ball valves

Ball valves have a compact structure, reliable sealing, simple structure, easy maintenance, and the sealing surface and ball surface are often in a closed state, which is not easily eroded by the medium, easy to operate and maintain, suitable for water, solvents, acids, natural gas, and other general working media, and also suitable for working under harsh conditions, such as oxygen, hydrogen peroxide, methane, and ethylene, and have been widely used in various industries. The pneumatic ball valve body can be integral or composite.

Characteristics of pneumatic ball valves

Pneumatic ball valves are mainly used to cut off or connect the medium in pipelines, and can also be used for fluid regulation and control. Compared with other types of valves, pneumatic ball valves have the following advantages:

  • Small fluid resistance. Pneumatic ball valves have the smallest fluid resistance among all types of valves, even if it is a reduced diameter pneumatic ball valve, its fluid resistance is still small.

  • The anti-thrust bearing reduces the friction torque of the valve stem and makes the valve stem operate smoothly for a long time.

  • The valve seat has good sealing performance. The sealing ring made of elastic materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene is easy to seal, and the sealing performance of pneumatic ball valves increases with the increase of the medium pressure.

  • The valve stem seal is reliable. Since the valve stem only performs simulated rotary motion without lifting motion, the packing seal of the valve stem is not easy to be damaged, and the sealing capacity increases with the increase of the medium pressure.

  • Due to the good self-lubrication of materials such as polytetrafluoroethylene, and the small friction loss with the ball, the service life of pneumatic ball valves is long.

  • The bottom-mounted valve stem and the protrusion on the valve stem head prevent the valve stem from being ejected. In case of a fire, if the stem seal is damaged, the protrusion can make metal contact with the valve body to ensure the valve stem seal.

  • Anti-static function: a spring is set between the ball, valve stem, and valve body of the pneumatic ball valve, which can discharge the static electricity generated during the switching process.
